Viatris (VTRS) Stock Forecast & Price Target

Viatris is supported by a business mix that is shifting toward higher-value complex generics and branded lifecycle products, which should help offset commoditization and price erosion in its legacy portfolio. Developed markets generics have already returned to growth in 1H26, and the company is positioned to capture a share of the $175B in branded drug revenue coming off patent between 2025-2030, while aiming for a ~35% increase in complex generics launches by 2030. The outlook is further strengthened by multiple near-term catalysts, including fast-acting meloxicam, the contraceptive patch franchise with peak net sales of $180MM or higher for Gwyn Lo and more than $400MM for the two-patch portfolio, plus selatogrel and cenerimod, which could unlock durable revenue and EBITDA growth.

Viatris is facing a challenging fundamental setup because its core generic business remains exposed to persistent pricing and competitive pressure, even as the hoped-for shift toward complex generics may only partially offset margin erosion. The company’s growth case also depends heavily on pipeline assets such as selatogrel and cenerimod, yet cenerimod’s Phase 2b CARE study did not hit its primary endpoint and selatogrel is a key contributor to the forecast, so setbacks would materially weaken the outlook. On top of that, the APAC base business is vulnerable to volume-based procurement in Greater China and structural generic price reductions in JANZ, while the balance sheet still reflects $13,351M of debt against $887M of cash and roughly 1,172M shares outstanding.
