MDA Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
MDA Space is viewed as a compelling long-term space and defence compounder because it combines rare profitability with strong growth, supported by a ~$4.0B backlog, a ~$40B pipeline, and 2Q26 revenue of $498.6M that rose 34% year over year. Its outlook is further strengthened by the ~$2B Telesat Lightspeed contract, management’s 2026 guidance of roughly $1.85B revenue and $350M adjusted EBITDA, and the pending BCT and CLS acquisitions that broaden exposure to the U.S. and deepen the company’s capabilities. Valuation also supports the bullish case, with shares trading at just 3x 2027E revenues and 16.7x EV/EBITDA versus much richer peer multiples, while elevated 2026 capex should position the platform for more durable growth later.
Bears say
MDA Space is facing a negative fundamental setup because, despite a strong Q2 beat with adjusted EBITDA of $96.3M and revenue up 34% y/y, the revised 2026 guide points to a sharp slowdown in 2H26 growth of only about 2% y/y. The company’s downside case still depends on ambitious 2028E revenue of ~$3.1B and EBITDA of ~$580M, while execution risk remains elevated given supply chain issues, contract timing, funding uncertainty for government space programs, and reliance on ongoing political support. Free cash flow was also weak at -$150M, signaling that working capital swings and planned higher capex could pressure liquidity even as competition, M&A integration, and contract-loss risk cloud the path to sustained growth.
