Bulls say
Centuri Holdings is attractive because the business continues to show strong revenue visibility, with management citing an active pipeline, ~81% of the $475mn award tied to new projects and expanded MSAs, and FY26 bookings tracking toward $4.4-4.6bn. Fundamentally, the market appears to be underestimating how much of the recent margin pressure is temporary and controllable, including about $22mn of incremental rental/leasing cost in 2Q, a $12mn FY26 fuel headwind, and elevated mobilization costs tied to a faster project ramp. The outlook is further supported by improving U.S. Gas seasonality, where 1Q27 revenue could approach ~$380mn with $4-5mn of gross profit versus a loss in 1Q26, while FY26 free cash flow is still expected to exceed $75mn and leverage is targeted near ~2x by YE26.
Bears say
Centuri Holdings is burdened by structural execution risks that weaken the investment case, including constrained labor availability in gas and electric utility work, which could limit its ability to convert a growing backlog into revenue. Its margins are also inherently unstable because results depend on the mix of MSA versus bid projects and on union versus non-union crews, while storm-related work adds an unpredictable and volatile earnings component. As a newly independent public company, it also faces meaningful integration and operating risks as it implements its “One Centuri” model and capital allocation strategy, increasing the chance of misexecution.
